Members of the Abia State House of Assembly on Wednesday went on oversight function to some roads in Aba the commercial nerve centre of Abi State to ascertain the current conditions of the roads.
The roads they visited included: Faulks Road and Ngwa Road.
At Faulks Road in Aba North Local Government Area, and at Ngwa Road in Aba South Local Government Area, the Speaker who spoke on behalf of Members of the House about the condition of the roads, told Aba residents that the state Lawmakers feel their pains and worries.
Rt Honourable Orji however quickly assured them that the legislators will have an interface with the Executive arm to ensure that the Governor’s promise for the construction works on the roads is unhindered.
He assured that the Dr Okezie Ikpeazu’s pledge on rebuilding the city of Aba will not in anyway be circumvented.
He told the relevant Commissioners present during the visit to help the Governor realise his dreams of fixing the roads.
The House of Assembly also assured the people of the respective areas that the contractors handling the road projects will soon be summoned to appear before the House as part of actions to ensure that the roads were fixed.
The Speaker therefore appealed to the people to exercise some more patience as works were expected to recommence on the roads as soon as the rains were over.
At both Faulks Road and Ngwa Road, the residents commended the Speaker and lawmakers for stepping out of their comfort zones to visit what touches the people and their businesses.
