Abia Police Commissioner Lauds GM, Abia Tourism Board, Says ‘She Has Meticulously Rediscovered Tourism Sites’ In Abia

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Janet Agbede, has commended the foresightedness, zeal and commitment of the General Manager, Abia State Tourism Board, Miss Onyekachi Atuloma in rediscovering and developing of tourist sites in the state.

The Abia police boss spoke in her office at the Police Headquarters, Umuahia when the GM, Abia Tourism Board paid a courtesy call on her as part of her activities to encourage those who in one way or the other encourage and support tourism in the state.

The CP who, during the visit, was conferred with an Award of the Most Tourism Friendly Police Commissioner in Nigeria, said the GM has since she became the boss of the tourism board, revitalized the tourism sector in Abia State. She therefore asked her not to relent.

CP Agbade noted that identified tourism sites if properly harnessed will attract kuge foreign exchange to Abia State in particular and the country in general and called for its sustenance so that Nigerians will derive more benefit from it.

She expressed joy that Miss Atuloma, who was once “Miss Abia” beauty pageant, was not encumbered by her gender, pointing out that women are now breaking the barriers in sensitive areas where men take control and dominate, even as she assured that the Nigeria Police under her watch will partner with the board henceforth.

Earlier, the GM had intimated the police boss of the decision of the board to confer the Award on her, saying that it was because she and her command had provided adequate security that made people to visit tourism sites without molestation across the state.

She was of the opinion that without security there would not be tourism and asked the commissioner to ensure that her men provide adequate security to both tourists and tourism sites across Abia State.
