In his speech shortly after the returning officer, Mallam lbrahim Dankuwa of Kano state announced the result at Abuja, that he (Nwogwugwu) polled 18 states vote with FCT, Abuja to defeat Mallam Mohammed Kuyizhi of Niger State, who won 13 states and Alhaja Zururat Zubir of kwara state, who got 5 states, Chief Nwogwugwu pointed out that the agricultural friendly initiatives of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu made it easier for his acceptance, which culminated to his election as the first President of NANFACOS.
He emphasized that the National Apex body has come to stay in the life of farmers and his administration will bring the farmers into limelight in agribusiness and to arrest the challenges and barriers associated with the credit deliveries to farmers.
He identified inadequate food storage facilities and improper book keeping as factors that will contribute towards increase in prices of food items across the country.Nwaogwugwu said inadequate provision of storage facilities and proper processing of perishable produce, account for huge waste of the farm produce which are often wasted after harvest.
Nwogwugwu who also decried the situation whereby a farmer after toiling from cultivation to harvesting ends up with low profit and at times incurring huge loss after sales, assured that he will expose Nigerian farmers to the rudiments of book keeping, to improve productivity, if elected president and make them to realize their full potentials with current Agricultural techniques and best practices. He said agricultural operations are much more modern and business-oriented and a successful farmer need to be good producer and financial manager; keeping accurate farm records and establishing and maintaining a proven record keeping system.
