PDP Abia Central Hopeful Commiserates With Oriuwa Family Of Old Umuahia, Mourns Demise Arungwa Of Oloko

Former Minister of Defence State and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Abia Central Senatorial zone in 2023 general elections, Col Austin Akobundu rtd, on Friday, August 26 2022 commiserated with the Old Umuahia people particularly the family of Nwanmuo Oriuwa which buried their patriarch, late Evang. Josiah Nwanmuo Oriuwa at his country home, Umuovo Elu Elu Old Umuahia in Umuahia South LGA of Abia State.

The PDP candidate who was heralded to the Evangel High School Old Umuahia, venue of the open air service, arrived there with his powerful campaign team. It was indeed the gathering of eminent personalities, captains of industries, reputed members of the political class, government functionaries etc.

They expressed joy on sighting the former Minister in his habit of displaying his usual hospitality to bereaved families.

Amongst those that graced the event were the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, and candidate of PDP for Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, Director General, Austin Akobundu Campaign Council, Pastor Emeka Inyama, Commissioner for Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon Obinna Okey, Ikwuano PDP chairman, Deacon Obioma Igwe, Elder Henry Nwaoha, amongst many other dignitaries.

Aged 92, late Evang. Oriuwa who was a preacher of the Word and philanthropist, was survived by children and grand children.

Meanwhile, the PDP candidate for Abia Central Senatorial district in the 2023 general elections, Col. Austin Akobundu Rtd, has described the late two-time Education Secretary and former Transition Committee Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Elder (Dr) Onwunmelu Arungwa as an iconic personality, a role model, great disciplinarian and a teacher of note.

In his speech during an open air funeral service in honour of the departed educationist conducted by the United Evangelical Church, Oloko held at Nchara Oloko Primary School field in Ikwuano Local Government Area, the immediate past National Organizing Secretary of the PDP and Apu Ukwu of Ohuhu, Umuahia North further observed that the deceased helped in diverse ways in mentoring the people of Ikwuano, pointing out that he was a man that represented a lot in the development of his community and Ikwuano at large.

The PDP Abia Central hopeful while expressing regret with the demise of the former Ikwuano Council boss also said he was consoled with the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and died at a ripe age of 84.

The Abia Central PDP flag bearer therefore urged the bereaved family to take solace in God and maintain those sterling legacies their late father was known for.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Ikwuano Local Government Area, Chief Stephen Mpamugo assured the deceased family that he has gone to be with the Lord and challenged the family to sustain those virtues their late father was known for.

Members of Akobundu Campaign Organization accompanied the Abia Central Senatorial PDP candidate to the burial ceremony.

Similarly, the PDP Abia Central Senatorial hopeful visited and empathized with the families of Pa Gabriel Emereuwa Uroh and Ekpo of Oboro all in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State.
