Akobundu Flags Off Consultation, Thank You Visit In Umuahia South, Inaugurates Wards Campaign Committee For The Area

Former Minister and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Abia Central Senatorial district in 2023 general elections, Col. Austin Akobundu rtd Wednesday flagged his Consultation and Thank You Visit to local government areas under the Abia Central Senatorial district with a visit to Umuahia South LGA where he equally inaugurated the executive of the Akobundu Campaign Council Committee for the LGA.

He made a stop-over at the country home of an elder statesman and pioneer chairman of PDP in Abia State, Chief Tony Ukasoanya where he addressed leaders and critical Stakeholders of the party in the area, informing them of the need to work as a body in order to achieve a resounding success in the 2023 polls.

The PDP candidate for Abia Central assured them that he will carry everybody along if elected as Senator in next year’s election, pointing out that he came not only to thank them but to seek their opinions on critical issues pertaining to the forthcoming elections.

According to him, the symbiotic relationship between him and them should always be sustained and that the relationship should be a collegial one where every good opinion is welcome and accommodated for a resounding success.

The Coordinator of the Akobundu Campaign Council in Umuahia South, Sir Tony Ezebuiro who spoke while welcoming the August visitor, described Umuahia South as a formidable LGA that believes in Akobundu as the only credible politician that will perfectly perform the duties of representing the people at the upper legislative assembly – the Senate.

The Director General of the Campaign Council, Pastor Emeka Inyama, Chief Ukasoanya and the Secretary to the Abia State Government (SSG), Barr Chris Ezem who also spoke at the event, eulogized the former minister for carrying the people along when he was National Organising Secretary of PDP and assured him of their massive support during the poll.

Similarly, at a separate event held at the Sacramento Event Centre, Isi Court where he addressed the entire Stakeholders of the LGA, Akobundu described Umuahia South as one of the most organised local government areas in the state in terms of leadership and organizational structure and thanked the party leaders for their support which saw him through at the party primaries.

Akobundu who is also a onetime National Vice Chairman of PDP (South East), noted that as an experienced party man who knows the importance of taking care of the party men and women, he will not deviate from carrying them along, even as he assured them that he is in the race to win. He therefore urged them to collectively be part of the project to deliver him and other PDP candidates.

The former Minister of State for Defence disclosed that he started his political career in Umuahia South where he was mentored by the likes of Chief Tony Ukasanya, Sir Vincent Ogbulafor (former National Chairman of PDP), among others, explaining further that he shares a long time relationship with the people of Umuahia South.

However, before interacting with the Stakeholders of the area, the PDP hopeful had inaugurated the executive of his Campaign Committee Council for Umuahia South and used the opportunity to charge the members to go to the grass root to continue to win souls for PDP, informing them that they were carefully selected to serve in the committee because of their track records as party men and women.

Present at the occasion were: former Secretary to the Abia State Government, Barr CSL Nwosu, the member representing Umuahia South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Barr Jerry Uzosike, the Chairman of Umuahia South Council, Engr Humphrey Chukwudi Benson, the PDP Abia Central Zonal Chairman, Chief Chukwudi Ezebuiro, the PDP Chairman of Umuahia South, Chief Chinedum Okezie and a former Chairman of Umuahia South, Dr. Max Ndukwe Adindu as well as Deacon Charles Ekwueme, former TC Chairman of the Council amongst others.
