The All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee headed by Governor Mai Mala Buni today, Thursday went ahead with the inauguration of the party’s LGA Congresses Committee set up by the Mai Mala Buni leadership despite Wednesday’s Court Order.
The party, during the event, charged the committee to ensure that the party’s congresses are conducted smoothly on Saturday, September 5, 2021.
This is coming despite an Order of the Court barring Governor Buni and CECPC from parading themselves as the party’s leadership, even though an official of APC said the party has not been officially served the Order.
It will be recalled that an Asaba High Court had Wednesday granted an exparte Order restraining the CECPC from proceeding with the conduct of the LGA Congresses in Delta pending the determination of the suit brought before it by stakeholders of the APC.
The High Court also ordered the Buni led APC to stop henceforth from parading as the leadership of APC.
Nonetheless, Senator John James Akpanudedehe, Secretary of CECPC went ahead and inaugurated the Committee, even as he assured the members that their missions as well as the previous Ward Congresses were legally protected.
Akpanudedehe re-echoed the decision of the party to sanction any members who drag it before the court
His word, “As President Muhammadu Buhari would always admonish his envoys, we urge you to go to your various states of primary assignment with confidence, dignity, commitment and pride.
“We also use this opportunity to reiterate the resolution of NEC of our party to severely sanction members and their sponsors who take the party to court.
“His Excellency (Hon) Mai Mala Buni is determined to carry out to the letter the instructions of our leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, which is to rebuild the party, button up. The process has reached an advanced ground stage.
“Rest assured that your assignment, as well as the earlier Ward Congresses nationwide, is legally protected. We are on solid ground”
The CECPC, according to him, will ratify and adopt results of the Ward Congresses, adding that any state Caretaker Committee that swears in any person or group who are not elected through the Congresses held on July 31 by the designated national Congress Committee, will have his result of the outcome declared null and void.
“Accordingly, the CECPC hereby directs you all to go and conduct nation-wide Local Government (LGA) Congresses on Saturday, September 4, 2021, as contained in the official timetable/schedule of activities released by the party”.
In another development, the APC has expelled Alhaji Sulaiman Adamu, Yola South LGA Caretaker Chairman with immediate effect for making unwholesome comment against President Mohammadu Buhari.
The party said it has ratified the decision of the seven-man disciplinary Committee that sat over his case and is persuaded to show him the way out of the APC.
“Recall the viral video in which Alhaji Sulaiman Adamu made unwholesome comments against President Muhammadu Buhari, the Leader of the Party and was also found guilty of bringing the image of the party to disrepute thereby creating doubt on his leadership quality and loyalty to the party.
“The CECPC received and deliberated on the report of his infractions and recommendations of the seven-member disciplinary committee setup by the Adamawa State Working Committee to investigate the offences committed by Alhaji Sulaiman Adamu against the interest of the party.
“The CECPC calls on party members to always demonstrate self-discipline and restraint by desisting from acts and utterances that are inimical to the interest of the party”, the party said.
