Finally, Ikpeazu Appoints Ukpai Agwu Ukpai’s Successor, One Year After Demise Of Former Dep Chief Of Staff

Exactly one year after the demise of Dr Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, his Deputy Chief of Staff, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Monday, March 28, 2022, appointed a legal practitioner, Olugu Kalu Ugba as his successor.

Ukpai died after participating in the March 27, 2021 bye election for the Aba North/Aba South Federal constituency where the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rep Chimaobi Ebisike was declared winner.

The former Deputy Chief of Staff who reportedly played a prominent role during election culminating to the victory of the PDP in the poll, died two days after the announcement of the result of the election.

However, after the demise of the Ukpai Agwu who hailed from Ohafia in Abia North, the position continued to be vacant until Ikpeazu’s appointment on Monday of another Ohafia man as his successor.

Also appointed is yet another Abia North politician, Engr Agu Ndukwe Orji as the General Manager, Abia State Road Maintenance Agency ABROMA.

A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barr Chris Ezem said the two appointments were for immediate effect.
