The Abia State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party,(PDP) Rt Hon Alwell Asiforo Okere, has described the former member that represented Bende Federal Constituency, Hon. Mrs Nnenna Elendu Ukeje as a pride to the PDP in the state and the nation in general.
According to him, Ukeje remains a woman of integrity, high leadership and good standard.
The State PDP chairman who was speaking at a grand civic reception held in honour of the former lawmaker organized by the people of Bende Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday, noted that Hon. Nnenna Ukeje has demonstrated capacity and enough leadership prowess, having served meritoriously as a former House of Representatives Member under the umbrella of the PDP where she distinguished herself as an outstanding lawmaker.
The State PDP boss commended the former lawmaker for her peaceful disposition and continuous support to the party since she left office as a legislator, also described her as a trailblazer and one who was recognized as a National and International Parliamentarian.
He noted that Nnenna, whose outstanding contributions and performances towards the development of Bende and Nigeria at large, would remain ever green in the annals of our history.
“I therefore, congratulate you on your grand civic reception by your people of Bende which is an eloquent testimony of your numerous landmark achievements and performances while you served as a lawmaker”, the PDP chairman said.
Rt. Hon Asiforo Okere, while thanking the good people of Bende LGA for organising the civic reception in honour of their illustrious daughter, assured them that by this singular honour done to her, PDP will bounce back to life in Bende.
He therefore assured them of the support of the party in the state in order to reorganize and re-form the party in the area, even as he tasked the former lawmaker to deploy those strategies she has been known for to bring back the lost glory of PDP in the area.
He pledged that some of the challenges and crisis currently facing the party in the area will be tackled head on.
The climax of the grand civic reception was the conferment of the title; Ada Ukwu Bende on Hon Mrs Nnenna Elendu Ukeje by the Traditional Rulers of Bende led by the Chairman, Bende Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Eze Uwakwe Ukaegbu.
The reception attracted the presence of an array of dignitaries including; the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt. Hon Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.Engr.Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Barr Onyebuchi Ememanka and other dignitaries.
