Edo Governor, Obaseki Wins Saturday Governorship Poll

…God Spoke And It Came To Be… He Says

Mr Godwin Obaseki, Governor of Edo State and Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has won the Edo State gubernatorial poll.

Indeed, the ancient and historic of Benin, Edo State capital has been thrown into a frenzy of jubilation as people, young and old, men and women, girls and boys trouped into the streets in many areas of the state chanting songs of praise for God and Obaseki.

The incumbent govenor defeated his main rival, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 12 other underdogs at the polls which for over a year now has generated much tension.

By this victory, Obaseki will serve another four years, bearing hiccups from the courts.

Obaseki polled 307,955 votes, while Ize-Iyamu scored 223,619 votes.

Elated Obaseki told newsmen at the Government House, Benin that God spoke and it came to be.

In same vein, Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivets State who served as PDP’s Edo Election Coordinator, attributed the victory to the people of Edo State.

Uche Nwosu is a two time Shell Petroleum PLC award winner in the year 2000; He won the Shell Award on Investigative Journalism and Environmental Cleanliness.
