The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federla Constituency, Engr Ogbonna Abarikwu, has said that his positive ideas and blueprint which he has designed and plans unveiled during the campaigns will give him electoral victory in next year’s elections.
The United States based engineer who fielded questions from journalists in Umuahia on Friday said apart from making laws for the good governance of the country, he will run a transparent representation at the Green Chamber, saying that he will develop a system where the grass root will be on the know of major events that transpire in the federal house.
According to him, his service to the people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South Federal Constituency will not be limited to making laws, representation and oversight functions alone, pointing out that he will look beyond providing palliatives to during odd times to the people of his constituency.
Abarikwu, who hails from Ibeku section of Umuahia North where it is said has had its turn at the federal house, maintained that what matters is what a candidate seeking for that office has to offer to better the lots of the constituency and not necessarily where he hails from.
“In any case, my section of Ibeku has not had any opportunity to represent Ikwuano/Umuahia at any level. But it’s my belief that the best candidate that will give the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia quality representation should be elected.
“It’s the electorates that will decide the best candidate amongst the lot. Let them (those contesting for the seat) come out to tell the people what they have for them, their vision and their records. The public will investigate and make their decision at the poll”, the aspirant declared.
Describing himself as an engineer that rose from the rungs to become one of the leading engineers in the California, United States, Abarikwu believed that he will win the 2023 House of Representatives poll for Ikwuano, Umuahia North and Umuahia South because he will be bringing in some new innovations that will impact positively on the federal constituency if elected.
“I won’t take it for granted that my opponents are moneybags, they have a lot of strong power base and that there’s money politics in today’s Nigeria, but I decided to try because governance doesn’t belong to anybody or family”, he enthused.
