Death has again hit hard on Abia State at the weekend and left on its trails two prominent citizens of this “God’s Own State”, as the citizens mourn the passing on of Mrs Onyenyechi Agbazuere, wife of Professor Anthony Agbazuere, the Chief of Staff to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as well as an ex-Commissioner, Chief Francis Uche Mpamah.
Onyinyechi Agbazuere died at the early hours of Saturday, September 4, while Uche Mpamah died at the early hours of Sunday, September 5, 2021.
It was gathered that the late Onyinyechi who died after a brief illness, few days after accompanying her husband to the new yam festival of her kinsmen, Ohuhu Clan of Umuahia North LGA where she and her husband were conferred with chieftaincy titles, was an amiable lady.
Our reporter learnt that the deceased who was conferred with the feminist title of “Ada Ohuhu”, had recovered from a debilitating illness early this year, and that a special Thanksgiving Service and Reception were held to mark her recovery by the Agbazuere family in March this year.
Similarly, Uche Mpamah, who also recovered from an undisclosed sickness some weeks ago, relapsed last week and eventually succumbed to the cold hands of death on Sunday.
He served as the Commissioner for Sports in the Theodore Orji administration and was a grass root politicians of note in Ikwuano LGA where he hailed from. Certainly, his wife and kinsmen of Obuohia Ibere Clan in Ikwuano were still in shock as at the time our Reporter visited his Umuahia residence on Monday.
Our Reporter gathered that Uche Mpamah before his death suffered a humiliating orgy of poverty.
