Abia Guber 2023: Senator Nwachukwu Throws Support For Prof Ikonne, PDP Candidate

Elder Statesman and former Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Ike Nwachukwu, has assured the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof Uche Eleazar Ikonne of his total support in the 2023 election.

Welcoming the PDP guber candidate in his country home Ovim in Isuikwuato LGA, Senator Nwachukwu who before joining politics retired from the Nigerian Army as Major General said Prof Ikonne has the capacity to deliver Abia State if elected in next year’s poll.

Ikonne, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU) where Senator Nwachukwu who represented Abia North from 1999 to 2003 served as Pro Chancellor was in the former Senator’s house to formally inform him of his participation in the governorship race.

Nwachukwu declared, “I have worked with you, you have the capacity to deliver. Under your watch Abia will witness tremendous development deriving from your antecedents as Vice-Chancellor of Abia State University,

“PDP made the right choice to pick you as its governorship candidate. You are experienced, competent, honest, and hardworking, Congratulations, I am with you, count on my support and I am hopeful that with you as the governor, you will provide visionary and goal-oriented leadership”.

Senator Nwachukwu who was a former Military Governor of Old Imo State described Ikonne as a good administrator.

Earlier, the PDP candidate had told Senator Nwachukwu of his readiness to revitalise the state, stressing that one of his cardinal points will be to improve on trade and investment.
