The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has told Ndigbo searching for their loved ones to take a trip to towns like Kaduna, Abuja and other parts of the North and make the enquiry, saying that following incessant attacks and abductions by the Nigerian Army on innocent citizens of the Southeast, the places they were allegedly taken to is the far North.
According to the freedom fighters, the Nigeria security agents have carried a number of Igbo youths, especially those from the Southeast to unknown places in the North in the guise that they are members of IPOB.
Some of these detainees, it said, were moved from military barracks at Obinze-Owerri. Bori Camp Port Harcourt Rivers State, 82 Division Enugu including army barracks at Afikpo in Abia State.
It alerted the international community that the people whose names it listed were detained for more than 10 months with severe torture and starvation, and later transferred to Kaduna, Abuja and other security facilities scattered in the North.
It will be recalled that a human rights group, International Society for human rights and the rule of law (Intersociety) had a publication said that over 90 South Eastern youths abducted from the South East are located in Kaduna recreational centre.
The IPOB in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful said the group gathered that “some of those abducted from Obigbo in Rivers State last year as well as some of the Biafrans being abducted in Imo State are also in various secret detentions in Kaduna Prisons and other secret security cells in Kaduna and Abuja”.
According to IPOB, discoveries were made of about 95 innocent citizens of Obigbo who were discovered in Kaduna, 257 others kidnapped from Orlu Imo State were discovered in different secret Army cells in Abuja, and therefore asked members of the public to check their missing ones in different Army detention centres in Abuja.
It said it will not relent in the efforts towards unraveling the various secret cells and detention facilities where youths from the South East were hidden and locked up.
His word: “We, therefore, put the world on notice of the fresh discovery of 95 abducted Obigbo and Orlu residents including six females and 89 males in Kaduna Prisons and secret cells in Abuja.
“We discovered newly Army abductees, including one Ugochukwu, who we discovered died as a result of severe torture. Over 257 others are still missing till today following the treachery of Hope Uzodinma and Nyesom Wike”.
IPOB called on world leaders, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and other reputable Human Rights Organisations in the world to take note of these atrocities and genocidal attacks and humiliations on people of Biafra.
