In a rare show of credible performance, the Akwa Ibom State government will on Friday, September 24, 2021, present a 21 storey building for inauguration in Uyo, the state capital.
The edifice, named Smart Building, will be commissioned alongside some bungalows in the city named Dakkada Luxury Estate by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo.
Fielding questions from the journalists in Uyo on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong said the commissioning is part of the activities to mark the 34th anniversary of the creation of Akwa Ibom State.
According to Ememobong, the Dakkada Estate is designed to provide maximum affordable housing for people. The Information Commissioner spoke on the backdrop of the plans for the celebration of state’s 34th birthday of the state.
“21 Dakkada Towers is a smart building located along the central business district in Uyo to provide office complexes for International Oil Companies (IOCs) and other companies springing up in our state, while the luxury estate is located along the airport road.
“On Friday, His Excellency, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will be in Akwa Ibom to inaugurate the Dakkada Estate. When he lands at the airport, he will make his first stop at the Dakkada luxury Estate to flag off the project. The Dakkada Estate is designed to provide maximum affordable housing for people.
“When he flags off the Dakkada luxury estate, he will move immediately to the central business district of Uyo and inaugurate the Dakkada Towers. It is a smart intelligent building fitted with the best communication and security gadgets”.

He revealed that the anniversary celebration will be low key, because of COVID-19, and would therefore not attract public holiday, even as he used the occasion to congratulate Akwa Ibom State for the quality of men whom, he said, have governed the state.
“I want state here that God has been involved in the selection of leadership for the state, therefore we’re grateful to the Almighty.
“Attah came at the foundation stage and laid a solid foundation; Akpabio reported with anger and did well on industrialization. Udom, a financial expert came when the nation’s economy was almost in depression, followed by the Covid-19. So, he was prepared for a time like this”, Ememobong opined.
On agitations over Governor Udom Emmanuel’s ability to complete all ongoing projects within the lifespan of the administration, the information boss emphasise thus: “completeness would be determined on May 29, 2023″.
