Church Lauds Akobundu For Swiftly Extending Hands Of Fellowship To It

Col Austin Akobundu rtd, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Abia Central Senatorial district in 2023 elections, has commended the St Augustine Catholic Church faithful in Umugbalu Oboro in Ikwuano LGA of Abia State for their resilience and commitment towards building a befitting house of God in the area.

Speaking when he participated in the launching of a multimillion naira Church building project at Umugbalu town hall on Sunday, August 14, 2022, the former Minister of Defence State, observed that such projects help in the fulfillment of the spiritual needs of worshippers.

Represented by the Abia State Commissioner for Intergovernmental Affairs, Chief Obinna Okey, the Abia Central Senatorial hopeful, while making a handsome donation for the construction of the church building, tasked them to support him and other PDP candidates in Abia State in 2023 general elections.

He assured them that he would continue to offer quality support to the church, pointing out if elected as Senator representing Abia Central in the Senate next year, he would ensure that the project is not abandoned.

In their address signed by the Chairman of the Station Council, Chief Stanley Ohale and Building Committee Chairman, Clement Nwazueh, the church profusely thanked Col Austin Akobundu rtd for his numerous philanthropic gestures to both the church in particular and Ikwuano people in general.

Present at the event included: Pastor Ekeleme Ikeije, Secretary of the Austin Akobundu Campaign Council, Chief Clement Onukwue, former Transition Chairman, Ikwuano LGA, PDP Chairman of Ikwuano LGA, Deacon Obioma Igwe,, Hon Uche Nwosu as well as Chief Chukwuemeka Usuwa, onetime Transition Committee Chairman, Ikwuano LGA.
