Okonjo-Iweala, Nyesom Wike Others, Bag DAAR Communications Leadership Awards

Director General, World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike were on Monday received Awards of Woman of the Year and Man of the Year Leadership Awards respectively from the DAAR Communications PLC owners of Africa Independent Television (AIT).

The Awards were given to the duo at the 4th DAAR Awards ceremony which marked the 25th anniversary of Africa Independent Television (AIT) in Abuja.

Presenting the Awards to these Nigerian personalities, the Chairman of the occasion, Sir Steve Omojafor praised them for their expertise in their chosen careers and transformational leadership, pointing out that so far the personalities have recorded giant strides in economics, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and sports.

“If other world personalities and governors carry out their responsibilities like these people, Nigeria will be a better place for all,” he stated. Omojafor described the honour bestowed on Governor Wike as well deserved and commended DAAR Communications PLC for recognising excellence.

Receiving the Award on behalf of Governor Wike, the Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo, thanked the organisers for the recognition, noting that it would spur the governor to do more.

Other governors who also bagged Awards included those of Osun, Borno and Delta States. The governors bagged Outstanding Leadership Awards in Public Service, in Citizens Welfare, Peace and Security and Education respectively.

Uche Nwosu is a two time Shell Petroleum PLC award winner in the year 2000;
He won the Shell Award on Investigative Journalism and Environmental Cleanliness.
