Following the brutal murder of a Nigerian, Rita Amenze, by her estranged Italian husband, Pierangelo Pellizzar, on Friday morning, in Noventa Vicentina, Italy, the federal government has demanded an investigation into the murder.
In a statement in Abuja on Sunday, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), noted that “the Nigerian Ambassador to Italy as well as the Nigerian Community in Italy, have demanded full investigation into the killing of a Nigerian housewife by her estranged husband in Italy”.
The statement disclosed that 31 year old Amenze was allegedly “shot four times in front of her colleagues until life was gone out of her”.
Rita, who reportedly returned from Nigeria a week ago, arrived in Italy in 2017 through Libya and got married to the Italian man in 2018.
Her murder was said to have taken place in the parking lot of Mf Mushroom, a company where she worked.
The NIDCOM Chairman added that “the alleged killing of the housewife by her husband due to the fact that she filed for a divorce was quite unfortunate and sad.”
The statement also noted that the President of National Union of Nigerian Associations in Italy (NUNAI), Rowland Ndukuba similarly condemned the killing and thanked the Police authorities for the arrest of Pierangelo Pellizzar.
Giving an update on the incident, Dabiri-Erewa, stated that the estranged husband, has since been arrested.
