He therefore advised Nigerians to continue to keep faith with God despite the economic downturn and security challenges being experienced in the country.
According to him, the hard times will soon fizzle out, urging them to take a cue from the biblical Daniel who endured hard times to the end and was later conferred with honour and glory.
Speaking at the Thanksgiving Service to mark th successful hosting of the7th Triennial Delegates Conference last year and re-election of Comrade Chris Isiguzo as National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Church in Umuahia, Abia State capital, Rev Godson said Nigerians should come closer to God in order to solve the numerous economic challenges.
He described Comrade Isiguzo as a man whom God has bestowed his glory on, saying that when God honours a man, He will also send men to honour him. The cleric also observed that God’s honour comes with great blessings and uncommon favour.
He therefore prayed for more blessings in the life of the NUJ President and family as well as His divine grace and protection over them, assuring Isiguzo that the Almighty will definitely give him wisdom like that of Solomon to pilot the affairs of NUJ successfully.
In his speech at the event, Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr Eze Chikamnayo congratulated Isiguzo on his re-election last year and pointed out that the successful hosting of the NUJ National Delegate Conference of the union in Abia was a show of the state government’s commitment towards ensuring togetherness, unity and peace of all peoples of Nigeria.
Responding at the Thanksgiving Service, the NUJ President said it was a thing of joy to gather in the presence of God to praise Him for His mercy and kindness and noted that the journey to the successful hosting of the 7th Delegate Conference was tortuous one.
He therefore appreciated the Abia, Kogi and Akwa Ibom State Governments as well as the former Secretary to Abia State Government, Pastor Ralph Egbu, the Church of God Mission, the traditional rulers from Ohuhu led by its chairman, Nnamdi Ofoegbu, his colleagues, and others for attending the event.
The NUJ President used the opportunity to thank members of his campaign team, “Greater Heights Campaign Organisation” for their steadfastness, adding that he has seen the need to thank God for what He has done in his life.
He disclosed that in the 59 history of the union, Delegate Conference has not been held in the Southeast and that this dichotomy attracted criticisms from far and wide and expressed happiness that Abia State successfully hosted the conference despite all litigations and tribulations.
