Clergy Tasks Nigerians To Keep Faith With God As NUJ President Holds Thanksgiving Service In Umuahia

“We know that there is economic downturn, but without faith in God, Nigeria’s numerous challenges will not come to pass”, Reverend Elkana Godson of the Church of God Mission International, Umuahia, Abia State branch said on Sunday.

He therefore advised Nigerians to continue to keep faith with God despite the economic downturn and security challenges being experienced in the country.

According to him, the hard times will soon fizzle out, urging them to take a cue from the biblical Daniel who endured hard times to the end and was later conferred with honour and glory.

Speaking at the Thanksgiving Service to mark th successful hosting of the7th Triennial Delegates Conference last year and re-election of Comrade Chris Isiguzo as National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at Church in Umuahia, Abia State capital, Rev Godson said Nigerians should come closer to God in order to solve the numerous economic challenges.

He described Comrade Isiguzo as a man whom God has bestowed his glory on, saying that when God honours a man, He will also send men to honour him. The cleric also observed that God’s honour comes with great blessings and uncommon favour.

He therefore prayed for more blessings in the life of the NUJ President and family as well as His divine grace and protection over them, assuring Isiguzo that the Almighty will definitely give him wisdom like that of Solomon to pilot the affairs of NUJ successfully.

In his speech at the event, Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Barr Eze Chikamnayo congratulated Isiguzo on his re-election last year and pointed out that the successful hosting of the NUJ National Delegate Conference of the union in Abia was a show of the state government’s commitment towards ensuring togetherness, unity and peace of all peoples of Nigeria.
