Abia Can Redefine Nigeria’s Technological Needs If Given Chance, Says Ikpeazu As NALDA Boss Is Honoured In Aba

The Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan has described Prince Paul Ikonne , the executive Secretary of National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) as a man capable of holding any sensitive position.

According to him, Ikonne who was honoured by the Ukwa la Ngwa peoples of Abia State at the grand civic reception organized in Abia Polytechnic, Aba, is a man that deserves the honour, adding that both Abia indigenes and Nigeria in general have benefited from him.

Lawan disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari has a lot of confidence in Prince Ikonne, noting that in the last one year, under Ikonne, NALDA has done better than in the previous years.

He extolled the Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for being a pan Nigerian that believes in coming together of people of all shades to improve the lives of Nigerians and further described him as peaceful, progressive and sound as he has demonstrated capacity to better the lives of his people.

He stressed the need for political leaders to put their acts together to salvage Nigeria

 Governor Ikpeazu who also spoke at the event held at the Abia Polytechnic, Aba contended that Abia State has the capacity of redefining technological advancement of Nigeria if given the platform.

He said that all that is needed in the Southeast is a platform to excel; pointing out that the region has people who can manufacture almost everything as well as perform in other fields of endeavour.

The Governor was of the view that time has come for Abia to begin to celebrate great ones in our midst so that the younger generation can learn.

To that end, he stated that the Abia citizens who have distinguished themselves in their chosen fields will be celebrated and described Ikonne as an inspiration and a stickler for justice, equity and fair play.

He urged Ikonne to continue to do well and thanked the President for finding him worthy to occupy the position.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Local l Organizing Committee for the event and Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties, Erondu U. Erondu described the celebrant as a worthy son of Ukwa La Ngwa adding that the event is put together to celebrate his outstanding performance on his job at the federal level.

Other speakers including Professor Uche Ikonne who was the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Sam Nkire ,Rev Fr. Obinma Achilihu all lauded Prince Ikonne for distinguishing himself and pledged to continue to give him the needed support.

Responding, Prince Ikonne thanked the people of Ukwa La Ngwa for honoring him and assured that he will not fail them.

 He disclosed that the NALDA Fish Village in Ariam, Ikwuano LGA will be commissioned next month while the rice farm in Bende LGA will soon be harvested, revealing that the agency is establishing agro processing centres coming up in Aba North and South LGAs.

The event featured the conferment of a chieftaincy title on the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan as Onye Ntukwasiobi (Dependable Ally) by foremost Traditional Ruler, Eze Isaac Ikonne, the Enyi 1 of Aba.

Deputy Governor Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, Senate Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Members of the State Assembly, Secretary to Government, Barrister Chris Ezem and members of the State Executive Council, some chieftains of the APC, Traditional Rulers, etc graced the occasion.
