PDP Deputies That Resigned May Have Been Compromised, Sources

There are indications that the deputies of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who resigned en masse may have been gingered by the crumbs from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

It was said that some APC chieftains have before Tuesday met with them before their last collective resignation. However, those that resigned are not members of the National Working Committee, but National Executive Committee (NEC), sources close to the party revealed.

Those that resigned are: the Deputy National Financial Secretary, Deputy Legal Adviser, Deputy National Auditor, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Deputy Women Leader, and Deputy Organising Secretary.

They resigned their various positions, even as the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan confirmed their resignation, asking for calm in the party as the party’s leadership was trying to normalise the situation.

The sources said by this development, they will no longer continue to work with the current NWC led by Prince Uche Secondus.

However, in a telephone interview, one of them claimed that they resigned because of the high handedness of the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, adding that they cannot continue to work with him as their leader.

Uche Nwosu is a two time Shell Petroleum PLC award winner in the year 2000;
He won the Shell Award on Investigative Journalism and Environmental Cleanliness.
