A frontline Presidential hopeful on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) Mr Peter Obi, has pledged to take Nigeria from Its current state as a consuming nation to a nation of wealth creation.
The former Governor of Anambra State says Nigeria at the moment needs a leader with wealth of experience on wealth creation, to lay foundation for the next generation, not a sharer of resources.
He said these while consulting the leadership and delegates of the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Uyo on Monday.
To redeem Nigeria, Obi listed education, security, power generation and manufacturing as areas he intends to tackle as soon as sworn into office as president.
In his words “My mission is to change Nigeria from consumption to production and from wealth sharing to wealth creation”.
“The cake we are sharing now has finished. What we now need do is to bake more cakes . Those cakes we are going to bake is not for sharing. “
“We would have a new system where the teeming unemployed youths are given a future. They are going to be driving the process. So, there is no need to share. Consuming is finished, we are now going to be talking about production”.
He listed insecurity and poor economy as major features of a failed state and regretted that Nigeria has unfortunately failed.. He therefore called for prompt action to recover the nation.
The Presidential aspirant used the occasion to appeal to Akwa Ibom delegates to vote with the future of their children in mind, not the personality of any candidate or ethnic consideration.
Addressing his guest, the Chairman of PDP, Akwa Ibom State chapter, Mr Aniekan Akpan, applauded Obi for being the first Presidential aspirant to visit Akwa Ibom and assured; “We know you, you are competent and you have integrity”.
