Uzuakoli Police Station Attack: We’ll Make A Headway Soon, Police In Abia Say

Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, Mrs Janet Agbede has called on members of the public with useful information on the early Monday morning’s attack on Uzuakoli Police Station in Bende LGA of Abia State to volunteer it to the police.

She said in Umuahia on Monday that investigations over the attack have commenced and that no arrest has so far been made concerning the incident.

Agbede, told our reporter through Geoffrey Ogbonna, a Superintendent of Police and the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) that the police will make a headway soon.

It will be recalled that unknown gunmen in the early hours of Monday, April 19, 2021 set ablaze the Uzuakoli police station in Bende local government area of Abia State. The police station is located on Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Ohafia highway.

Scanty report from the area said the gunmen were many, adding that they shot their way into the police station and subsequently vandalised it.

This is coming weeks after a similar incident was unleashed in World Bank Housing Estate, Aba when a police station was razed and property worth millions of naira was destroyed.

The state government, it will be recalled, alerted the public last week of a planned attack on public facilities in the state, urging the people to be vigilant.

Efforts by the Daily Independent to reach police image maker in the state, Geoffrey Ogbonna, a Superintendent of Police, for a comment proved abortive as he kept his phone busy when a call was made to him.
