Ninety four Abia students across the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State are set to receive full scholarships for the 2021/2022 academic year.
The Chancellor, Gregory University Uturu, Prof. Gregory Ibe, dropped the cheering news while receiving a Chieftaincy title of “Uri Chi Dere” during the ‘Iri Ji’ festival of Mgboko Amaise Autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Area.
According to Prof. Greg Ibe, who was represented by the Chairman, Abia Crusaders Foundation, Prince Emeka Okafor, each of the 17 LGA will receive four slots, making up the 68 slots while 26 indigent ones also drawn from the 17 LGAs making up the 96.
He disclosed that the scholarship awards will cover extensive fields of study including Medicine and Surgery, Nursing and many more.
He recalled that last year alone 100 scholarships were awarded and that over 350 students are on scholarship awards since the inception of the scheme.
While dedicating the Chieftaincy title to the youths of Abia State , the university don further explained that the Scholarship award is being handled by the Gregory University Scholarship Board.
