Rotary Club of Umuahia North holds her Royal fellowship

Rotary Club of Umuahia North District 9142, Wednesday held her Royal fellowship with the immediate past Chaiman, Umuahia North Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Philip Ajomiwe in his palace at Oriendu autonomous community, Umuahia, Abia State.

In her speech during the fellowship, the District Governor zone 3, Rtn. Ogechi Oguama made it clear that Rotary Club is not a secret cult but a club that builds friendship, fellowship and afford members the chance to do something for somebody else while experiencing self-fulfillment in the process. According to Oguama, Rotary Club exist in absence of official creed, has no secret rituals but an open society of people who believe in helping others, adding that Rotary’s business is mankind and its product is service.

The Zone 3 District Governor said although members of the club might not be the richest but they strive to provide service to humanity and also taking into consideration the downtrodden.

Earlier in his speech, the Pathfinder President of the club, Rtn. Mathew Nwachukwu said Rotary said Rotary Club train leaders with the sole purpose of having a better society. According to Rtn. Nwachukwu, Rotary creates a more positive environment for promoting world understanding and peace, adding that Rotary develops character and brings out the best of the human spirit and the desire and ability to serve.

He lauded Oriendu autonomous community and the traditional ruler, Eze Ajomiwe for volunteering to host the club’s fellowship.

Responding, the traditional ruler of Oriendu autonomous community, HRM Eze Phillip Ajomiwe appreciated the club for the fellowship in his palace and promised to be inducted as a member of the club in the club’s induction ceremony, which is coming up soon. Eze Ajomiwe who also pointed out that his palace was established on the altar of God, remarked that Rotary club has ensured that the club remained relevant globally and has continued to demonstrate humility and love for humanity by promoting acquaintanceship, fellowship, and goodwill among business and professional members. He pointed out that the selfless disposition of the club is further reflected in its effort of service above self which has not only set the club aside from other non-governmental organizations.
