Going by the outings of the Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, in the last few days, some of his constituents have stated conclusively that he is meeting their expectations and desires as their lawmaker.
Besides performing his constitutional obligation of chairing the House, which he was elected to do since June 2019, Orji has impacted positively on his constituents of Umuahia Central State Constituency in a way no representative of the constituency before him had done.
On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Orji was part of the dignitaries that graced the Grand Civic Reception of the former Member, House of Representatives for Bende Federal Constituency, Hon Nnenna Ukeje at Bende headquarters.
At the event, the Abia Speaker spoke on the need for public officer holders to employ hard work as a necessary tool to succeed politically, emphasizing that it is only through it that they would be appreciated after leaving the office.
He noted that Ukeje, who was at the occasion, honoured with the title of Ada Ukwu Bende by Bende Traditional Rulers Council, will harness and galvanise the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bende into big reckoning once more.
The Abia Speaker recalled the many contributions of Ada Ukwu Bende during her stay at the Green Chambers, when she was representing the good people of Bende and believed that Nnenna Ukeje was poised to do more as she assumes the mandate of piloting the affairs Ndi Bende.
After the reception, Speaker Orji had a close tête-à-tête with the Moslem Community in Umuahia. In a message to the Muslim Community to facilitate with them on the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, Chinedum Orji urged the Muslim faithful to remember the poor and the needy in the society while celebrating.
He charged them to exhibit love, good neighborliness, compassion and virtues that advance the course of humanity as commanded by Prophet Mohammed. He therefore congratulated them for successfully concluding the holy month of Ramadan.
“On behalf of Abia State House of Assembly, I wish our Muslim brothers and sisters the joyous Eid-El-Fitr . They should continue to ensure peaceful co-existence with one another”, he admonished.
Earlier last week, Rt Hon Orji was awarded the “Distinguished Friend of the Media” Award by the national leadership of Nigerian Union Journalists (NUJ) in Abuja. During the event that was held at the famous Ladi Kwali Hall of the Abuja Sheraton Hotels and Towers as part of the activities commemorating the World Press Freedom Day, the National President of NUJ, Mr. Chris Isiguzo said the Abia Speaker was selected for the Award after he was found worthy of receiving such.
