“Please Forgive Me For Faking My Own Abduction, It’s A Prank”, Nnamdi 200 Level Student Of ABSU Who Faked His Abduction, Cries Out
“I did a prank on my girl friend by lying to her that I was kidnapped, I didn’t know she’ll alert the university security”, George Nnamdi, the 200 level student of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), who faked his abduction told our reporter on Friday.
“I sent a text message to her around 3am on Thursday telling her that six men carrying AK47 kidnapped me with other students, not knowing that she will take it serious. It was all one of the pranks I used to play.
“I don’t intend to commit any criminal act through it. Please, I want everybody to forgive me. I know that it has caused a lot embarrassment to the university authorities, my parents and those who know me”, Nnamdi cried.
Meanwhile, the suspect is now in the custody of the university security department which swiftly stormed his quarters early hours of Thursday after they were told of the kidnap incident.
The university security operatives however found him comfortably relaxed in his room.
The Head of Security Department (HOD) and Chief Security Officer of the university, Retired Navy Commander ThankGod Evulobi, disclosed that the department received a distress call that a student had been kidnapped, adding that on receipt of the SOS call, the agile men and women of the department swung into action only to discover that George Nnamdi faked his own abduction.
Retired Evulobi said, “We’ve made our findings known to the University Senate and we hope the Senate will take appropriate action against Nnamdi in line with the rules and regulations of the University.
“For now, the suspect is still in our custody, i.e. with the ABSU security department as we await further directives on the matter”, he stated.
Nonetheless, Faith Godson, a 300 level Mass Communication student, narrated how she quickly informed the Security Department on the purported kidnap of her friend, saying that as soon as she got the text, she was alarmed and she quickly alerted the security.
“The security swung into action by going to his lodge, off campus, only to discover that George Nnamdi was hiding in his lodge off the University campus; a free man”.Uche Nwosu is a two time Shell Petroleum PLC award winner in the year 2000;
