Two Policemen were yesterday feared dead on Wednesday following an attack on them by some persons suspected to be unknown gunmen at a police check point in Enugu State.
It was gathered that the attack was carried out at a police checkpoint in Nachi, Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
A witness who spoke on condition of anonymity stated the gunmen who came in their numbers attacked the policemen, killing two of them on the spot.
According to him, the noise of sporadic gun shots at the scene caused pandemonium, forcing people to scamper to all directions.
Contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the attack. He disclosed that the command has swung into action to arrest the criminals that perpetrated the evil act.
He said, “The Commissioner has ordered for investigation to commence immediately in order to arrest the culprit”.
