It was a joyous occasion laced with conviviality on Thursday, September 2, 2021 when the Executive Chairman of Umuahia South Local Government Council, Engr (Dr) Humphrey Chukwudi Benson presented his Budget tagged “Budget Of Inclusiveness And Continued Growth” to the Umuahia South Legislative Council at the Council; headquarters, Apumiri, Ubakala.
The Chief Servant of the Council, known for his well articulated action policies and performance in USLGA, said during the presentation that his administration will introduce more robust measures to put the Umuahia South on a roadmap of socioeconomic development in the coming year, 2022.
In his speech at the event, the Mayor of Umuahia South Council, explained that the budget proposal was carefully designed to strategically enhance the growth and prospect of the good people of Umuahia South and use the opportunity to inform the Council legislators that his social contract with Ndi Umuahia South is still sacrosanct.
A statement by one of his Media Aides remarked that the Mayor, having presented his 2021 Budget to the Umuahia South Legislature, told them that the areas of weakness will be handled positively and that the administration will allocate resources in a useful and sustainable manner to those areas in order to make it strong and service-oriented for the people so that they will breath fresh air.
One of the most fundamental steps and areas of strength behind the Executive Chairman’s budget presentation is the use of past data to identify, frame and accommodate the economic welfare and policies of the area and then implement them with utmost vigour.
This, he believes, will help his administration to demonstrate efficient and people-centered governance in order to achieve an economic stability that will be second to none in the history the Local Government.
According to the Media Aide, any political party which forms its government be it at local, state or federal sphere should have certain social, political and economic policies in order to meet the yearnings and desires of the people and this, he observed, is what the Engr Dr Humphrey Chukwudi Benson is doing.
“It is extremely important for the government to allocate resources wisely. Various factors such as uplifting underprivileged sections of the society, facilitating financial inclusion, mitigating Clan disparity, upgrading defense capabilities, providing proper educational facilities and much more need to be focused on should be on the table.
“Therefore, a well-planned budget is of utmost importance for any government to ensure economic stability and growth”, the Aide quoted the Mayor to have said. Benson’s administration, having realized this, is not leaving any stone unturned towards achieving a better life for the people of the three Clans of Umuahia South LGA: namely Umuopara, Olokoro, Ubakala, the Aide added.
Details of the Budget proposal will be published in full in due course.
