2023: Akobundu Charges Youths To Elect PDP Candidates In 2023 Elections, Says They Should Take Their Destiny In Their Hands

Former Minister of State Defence, Col Austin Akobundu rtd, has urged the youth to endeavour to assume their rightful positions in the society by taking their destiny in their own hands, reminding them that the country belongs to them as leaders of tomorrow.

According to him, the youth should elect the candidates of PDP in the 2023 elections because it is the only party that has their interest at heart.

Welcoming an organization known as Col Akobundu Youth Support Network (CAYSUN) at the Austin Akobundu Campaign office in Umuahia on Saturday, the former Minister who is also the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for Abia Central Senatorial district in 2023, said the best any politician could do is to associate and play the father figure role to the youth.

“As for me, I want to play that role; the role of stimulating the youth to be useful to not only themselves but to the society. This role is not only for the elections, but a symbiotic relationship that will endure for a long time. I’m going to work with you henceforth to enhance you”, he declared.

The PDP hopeful assured the Col Akobundu Youth Support Network of his readiness to assist and support them in all their some endeavours, adding that “we’ll bond together, not necessarily for the elections but for the future; the bond that will endure for the future”.

According to him, a new agenda will be set for the emancipation for the youths, which he opined, would be subject for review for the better. He added that the body will henceforth be adopted as his political restructure.

On 2023, the PDP candidate for Abia Central tasked the youth to also work for Prof Uche Ikonne, the PDP governorship candidate for Abia State, pointing out that no Senator would perform optimally if his home governor is from another political party.

Earlier, the leader of the group, Mr Cokey Nwachukwu had told the former minister that the group decided to work for him because he is the most credible senatorial candidate in Abia Central Senatorial district for the 2023 election.

In their separate speeches, the Coordinator of the group, Ikenna Balogu, Deputy Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South LGA, Hon Chimeremeze Nwankwo and Deputy Chairman, Osisioma Ngwa LGA, Hon Uchenna Jumbo, described Col Akobundu rtd as a humane, trustworthy and amiable politician who should be elected as Senator in the national assembly next year.
